Snaps Rescuer to Talk at Seattle Humane

The Seattle Humane Society will be hosting a talk by Steve Markwell, the founder of Olympic Animal Sanctuary in Forks, who lives among 30-40 dangerous dogs and works to rehabilitate them.

The public is invited to bring their lunch and meet Steve and some of his dogs on Tuesday Nov. 10 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Seattle Humane Auditorium. The event is FREE and donations to Olympic Animal Sanctuary are encouraged.

The Olympic Animal Sanctuary is a nonprofit animal welfare and rescue organization that specializes in the care and rehabilitation of dogs considered non-adoptable.

The Sanctuary's most well-known resident is Snaps, the abused Pit Bull Terrier mix who made headlines in September when his teenage owner kicked him and goaded him to attack two women who stopped to help. Snaps was held for two months at the King County Animal Care and Control shelter where his fate looked uncertain. The public rallied to Snaps' defense and he was released to Steve on Sept. 11.
